Angela María Amaya Arias

Lawyer with experience in legal counsel in matters regarding Environmental Law, Water Law, Energy, Climate Change, Forest Law, Sustainable Development, Environmental Regulation of the Extractive Industry, Banking and Environment, Biodiversity and Protected Areas, Environmental Criminal Law and Principles of Environmental Law.

  • She is currently Professor - Researcher at the Environmental Law Department of Universidad Externado de Colombia, Member of the Environmental Law Research Group of the same University, Member of the Consolidated Research Group AGUDEMA (Water, Law and Environment) at Universidad de Zaragoza (Spain) and Independent Consultant.
  • She was a Fellow of the Carolina Foundation and Universidad Externado de Colombia for the advancement of her Masters and PhD studies. His doctoral thesis, entitled "The Principle of Non-Regression in Environmental Law", obtained the Outstanding "Cum Laude" rating by the jury. Winner of the Josep Miquel Prats Canut Award for the Best Doctoral Thesis on Environmental Law in 2015, awarded by the Center d'Estudis de Dret Ambiental de Tarragona (CEDAT) of Universitat Rovira i Virgili and Diputació de Barcelona.
